On October 14th 2021, the Spring Hill Kansas city council violated a district court temporary restraining order which prohibited the city from adopting any annexation petition for land located north of the boundary line set in their annexation contract with the city of Olathe when it annexed 80 acres near 185th & Ridgeview.
The city did this in an attempt to rush through an ill-conceived development plan by Clayton Properties / Summit Homes that was inconsistent with the city's own comprehensive plan, incompatible with the surrounding properties and disrespectful to the rich history of the land.
Spring Hill failed to provide proper legal notification to area residents and their thoughtless and illegal land grab galvanized our rural community until the developer withdrew its proposal and the city reversed course.
There are approximately 80 residences from 175th to 191st street along Ridgeview Road, all of which have lots >1 acre in size. Any future development should be compatible with the rural residential character of our community with estate-sized lots and minimize additional traffic on an already busy Ridgeview Road.
Originally a part of the historic Ensor farm and museum property, this land was intended for preservation and not development since 1971. Any proposed development should respect this rich history and be compatible with the surrounding rural, low density zoning.
